Athens, Greece. May the 15th, 2020 – Epsilon responding to the new requirements set forth by IMO in the recent release of the Protocols for Safe Embarkation and Disembarkation, has proceeded to establish a framework of procedures, in order to ensure safe crew changes.
The outbreak of COVID-19 has negatively affected the global shipping industry and has significantly disrupted the flow of crew changes. To that respect, the new IMO Protocols aim to facilitate the unobstructed continuation of crew changes, so as the global shipping industry and supply chain may continue to operate seamlessly.
We have adapted our procedures to the new protocols by:
- Providing adequate information on COVID-19 preventive measures, to all our seafarers and our personnel, through issuing a relevant Seafarers’ Guide and onshore Personnel’s Guide
- Training our onshore personnel on the significance of the Protocols and updated forms and procedures
- Training our seafarers prior embarkation on COVID-19 preventive measures onboard, through their Pre-departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS)
- Aligning our internal procedures with the recommendation provided through the Protocols
Additionally, strict measures of personal hygiene and social distancing are implemented in all our offices. We have limited, to the extent possible, the physical visits to our offices and have established online procedures, aiming to minimize seafarers’ visits. We communicate with all personnel and seafarers as a means to ensure that their health and wellbeing is being upheld.
Our management and ashore personnel stay updated on local and international circulars and regulations, in an effort to act proactively towards any regulatory change.
