As part of the Corporate Social Responsibility scheme of Epsilon Maritime Services Inc., employees of Epsilon Manila conducted a tree-planting activity in La Mesa Watershed. The activity took place in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and was part of the company’s contribution to the governmental National Greening Program (NGP).
Tree-planting took place on a flat-topped hill in a protected area that preserves the only major watershed in Metro Manila. The team arrived at the Arboretum early in the morning and each employee planted at least 5 seedlings on the hill. There was a 45 minute hike in a challenging road trail but all employees were enchanted with the beauty of nature and happy to connect with the serenity of the place. The 500 saplings of exotic trees that were approximately planted that day may be a tiny portion of the overall 2,000-hectare of the watershed. However, Epsilon Manila employees who took part in the initiative were rewarded with the thought that they contributed to a greener tomorrow for the generations to come.
